Hannibal Public Schools is thrilled to celebrate the triumphant victory of our Hannibal Pirate Wrestlers at the 2024 MSHSAA Class 3 State Championship held on Saturday, February 24th. The team's exceptional performance secured a first ever State Team Championship win for the Hannibal Wrestling Program. Additionally, it is the first Team State Championship Title for the Hannibal Pirates since 1990, marking a historic milestone for the program and the entire school district.

Superintendent Susan Johnson expressed her profound pride, "This weekend I was fortunate enough to witness history! Our Hannibal Pirates Boys Wrestling team became State Champions. To see firsthand the tremendous talent displayed by our young men coupled with the support from our community is heartwarming. Thank you athletes for achieving this once-in-a-lifetime achievement. Thank you to our coaching staff for believing in these athletes and working tirelessly to channel their many talents. I am humbled and beyond proud."

Reflecting on this momentous achievement, Athletic Director Clint Graham shared, "What a historic weekend for the Hannibal Wrestling program and HPS! Coach Borgmeyer, his coaching staff, and wrestlers had a tremendous year and finished it off as state champions. The support the community has shown the wrestling program shows how special Pirate Nation really is. Please come out and help us celebrate these young men and their coaches this week. Go Pirates! Just Win!"
