❄️ Pirate Families: School will not be in session tomorrow, Tuesday December 2, due to slick and icy road conditions. Reminder: this year, the first 5 days of NO SCHOOL due to inclement weather will be AMI (Alternative Method of Instruction) days. Building Principals will communicate AMI plans at the building level.

Pirate Families,
Out of caution for student safety and slick travel conditions, Hannibal Public Schools will dismiss early today, Monday, December 1.

Here are the release times for each building:
-ECC: Morning students will dismiss at 11:00 a.m. All afternoon classes are cancelled.
-HCTC & HHS: 11:00 a.m. release. No afternoon classes at HCTC or HEC.
-HMS: 11:30 a.m. release.
-Elementary Schools: 11:45 a.m. release.
-Additionally, there will be no after school activities, including athletic practices.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to keep our students and staff safe. Stay warm and travel carefully, Pirates! 🖤❤🏴‍☠️

🎉 Congratulations to Mrs. Amy Triplett! We are proud to share that Mrs. Triplett, 1st grade teacher at Veterans Elementary, has been honored with the Golden Apple Award from WGEM! This week our High School LEAP students from Mrs. Murphy’s class teamed up with 3rd grade LEAP students from Ms. Willing’s class at HMS for a hands-on STEM challenge! 📐 After reading about the Leaning Tower of Pisa, students learned how mistakes can spark new ideas and then put that mindset to work. Using only index cards, they had 15 minutes to design and build the tallest free-standing tower in the room. Their creativity did not disappoint! From problem-solving to collaborative thinking, these gifted learners showed what happens when curiosity leads the way. 🏆 Tallest Tower: 31 inches 🥈 Second Tallest: 29 inches We’re proud of their teamwork and ingenuity! ❤️🏴‍☠️ 📸Photos Courtesy of Tracy Murphy

📸 Meet Our New Social Media Ambassador: Carlee McCoy!

We’re excited to introduce Carlee McCoy, a junior at HHS, who will be sharing Pirate news and stories through her own student lens this year! (You may have already spotted Carlee on the sidelines of our home varsity games snapping photos with Andrea Campbell. )

A true Pirate leader, Carlee is active in STUCO, HHS Softball, Wrestling stats, her church youth group and volunteer nursery program; all while pursuing her love for photography, reading, leadership projects, and cooking. Her favorite thing to do is cheer on her loved ones in the activities they love!

Carlee is the daughter of Darrell and Jamie McCoy, and Daniel and Tisha Smith. She has five siblings: Aurora, Andilyn, Jasen, Ryker, and Zander. Looking ahead, Carlee hopes to graduate college with a degree in child development and pursue a doctorate in occupational therapy, working with children as a pediatric OT.

Join us in cheering her on as she shines a spotlight on HPS students, staff, and community. Welcome aboard, Carlee!
