“Take pride in your work and do the best you can, no matter its perceived importance. Having pride in what you do is contagious.” - Lt. Col. John Bleigh
We are extremely honored to have Hannibal Alumni, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) John Bleigh as tonight’s commencement speaker. John graduated from Hannibal High School in 1996 as a co-
valedictorian, and then attended the United States Military
Academy at West Point.
Throughout his speech, he shared insights from his remarkable journey using a perfect blend of wisdom, humor, and genuine passion for success.
A few more pieces of wisdom he shared [paraphrased]:
📝Always do the right thing, it’s really not that hard.
📝Have confidence in yourself and your abilities, and remember confidence comes from preparation.
📝Don’t get bogged down in the ‘what ifs.’ Keep moving forward. If you make a mistake, learn from it and move forward.
📝Always be a leader. Being a leader means staying humble, having compassion, and being committed.

📢 Shoutout to Pam Lyng- retired HPS teacher, and current long term substitute teacher at HHS! We are so grateful to have her on our team, and are proud of the impact she has made on so many lives throughout her years as an educator. Here is what a parent recently shared with us:
"I wanted to thank you for having such fine quality teachers like Pam Lyng. We sent her a shout out note, but I wanted to make sure you knew our thoughts about her.
Our family is very appreciative for all you have done for our daughter. She took her ACT last year. Her English score was lower than she wanted. We ordered her test, it showed she was struggling specifically in the area of commas. She just retook her test in April. She raised her English score by ten points this time. She attributes her increased score to your teaching of that very skill. So, please know that what you do matters, because it helped our daughter in a large way. We appreciate you stepping up to the task when you had originally signed up to be a substitute for possibly just a few days that turned into all year. Thank you so much."
With the last day of school quickly approaching, now is the perfect time to send a thank you to the special educators who have made a difference for you this year! Send them a digital postcard at https://forms.gle/vUXZD91ZxWnHPCJD6.

Introducing Veteran's Elementary Principal (for today) Mr. Beckett Meininger. 👏👏
Mr. Meininger is a 4th grader in Mrs. Browns 4th grade class at Veterans, where he's been learning about systems of government. Beckett has been highly interested in the application of government in the school, with him as its president. After a persuasive letter to his principal, Mrs. Kelly, he spoke to all the 4th grade classes and held an election, which brings us to today. Students overwhelming supported their class mate, to lead their school, as Principal/President for a day.
His day started by greeting all the students and teachers, getting a tour of the kitchen and visiting with food service, and delivering smoothies for Teacher Appreciation. He shared with us that he "feels like the luckiest kid ever." But its clear to us he earned this role, with his determination and power of persuasion, and of course the support of his classmates. 🏴☠️🎉
